DNS Belgium recently launched a new service for capturing information on .vlaanderen and .brussels domain names: the Registration Data Access Protocol (RDAP). Use of this protocol is mandatory for all generic top-level domain names, including .vlaanderen and .brussels.
“RDAP can be seen as the successor to WHOIS, the current but somewhat outdated tool for requesting domain name information.”
The advantage of RDAP is that it displays information in a standardised manner, so that it is easy to process automatically. Furthermore, different users see differentiated parts of the information, depending on the role they have (government, registrar, etc.) and the level of privacy required.
Those wishing to get started with our public RDAP will find more technical information.
