As the owner of a domain name, you can fall victim to cybercriminals, but registrars run the same risk. Recent breaches of registrars clearly show that cybercriminals are becoming increasingly brazen and how important it is for all of us to continue investing in cybersecurity.
As a registrant , you can obviously not do anything about the security of your registrar’s infrastructure. DNS Belgium, on the other hand, offers Domain Guard and Domain Shield to help registrars secure their domain names better, i.e. security settings that enable them to avoid a large part of cyberattacks.
-
Domain Guard
Your registrar cannot change the details associated with your domain name. Nor can your registrar delete or transfer your domain name. Every time someone tries to update your domain name, you will immediately receive a call.
-
Domain Shield
The details of your domain name cannot change without the consent of a specific person at the registrar. Nor can your domain name be moved or deleted. The registrar signs a separate contract for this with DNS Belgium.
-
Safebrowsing
When we find a domain name that has been hacked or abused, we send the registrant a warning. That mail contains a link to www.safebrowsing.be, where the owner can see which domain name is involved.
-
DNSSEC
It provides an extra layer of security to your DNS. Your DNS information is digitally signed.
