We prepared a new version of the .be registrar agreement. Version 6.3 of the contract will come into force on 1 January 2025 and can be fount on our website.
What are the major changes in the updated registrar contract?
We are adding some provisions, including the following:
- To check compliance with the contractual conditions, we may carry out audits of registrars in the future. In doing so, we expect cooperation from the registrar.
- Cooperation with (partial) bulk transfers may not be unreasonably withheld by the registrar.
- In future, we will show abuse contact details (e-mail or URL) for each registrar in our WHOIS information. Therefore, it is mandatory for registrars to share this data with us.
There are also some contractual changes based on the NIS2 legislation:
- According to the NIS2 legislation, we have shared responsibility for the verification of contact details of registrants.
- In the future, you and/or we will send out verification e-mails to registrants. In the coming months, we will inform you in detail about this. For example, you will be able to specify whether you draft these verification e-mails yourself, or leave this to us.
- If you do not take on certain NIS2 obligations yourself, please refer to procedures of DNS Belgium. For example, consider granting access for ‘legitimate access seekers’.
Below you find a redline version of the new contract that highlights all changes compared to the current version of the agreement.
What should you do as registrar?
We will send you a digital version of the new contract. You sign this in complete security via Adobe Acrobat Sign.
Important: you will receive your new contract via an e-mail we send from Adobe's platform. The sender of this e-mail is ‘adobesign@adobesign.com.
We will send the e-mail and the new contract to the ‘legal’ contact (if different from the ‘general’ contact) of your registrar account.
A new contract also implies termination of the current agreement in accordance with article 8. Of course, we hope to continue our cooperation with you through the new contract.
If you have any questions about this, please contact legal@dnsbelgium.be.
