Since 2016, DNS Belgium has adopted measures to actively combat climate change by measuring its climate footprint and developing a climate plan. With a broad approach to sustainability, DNS Belgium undertakes to make a positive impact on both the environment and society.
Climate change brings risks to companies, such as stricter regulations, changing market conditions and physical risks caused by extreme weather conditions. By taking action now and working towards reducing its climate footprint, DNS Belgium increases its capability to tackle these future challenges.
Our climate plan for the period from 2024 to 2030 provides a detailed analysis of DNS Belgium's climate footprint, with a focus on the evolution from 2016 to 2023 and the specific data for 2023. Among other things, the document presents the various measures we will take in the coming years to further reduce our environmental impact and calculates their impact.
Reducing carbon emissions
In recent years, we've made great efforts to reduce our carbon footprint. Our carbon footprint is measured annually and every year we take measures to further reduce our carbon, for example by electrifying our vehicle fleet.
By offsetting the carbon we still produce, DNS Belgium has been climate neutral for years in a row.
Over the coming years we'll continue to work towards further reducing our carbon emissions in line with the Paris climate goals.
- Our policy to restrict flying for work will be further expanded.
- By 2027 our entire fleet has to be electric and charging stations with green electricity will be installed.
- In 2025, we're moving to a new, more sustainable office
- Etc.
Reducing electronic waste
Digital for Youth collects discarded laptops from companies. We have them restored to like-new condition and distribute them through the King Baudouin foundation to organisations working with vulnerable young people. This actively encourages the reuse of laptops and reduces electronic industrial waste.
It goes without saying that now and in the future, we aim to maximise the lifespan of our own IT equipment and give it a second life through Digital for Youth. By communicating about Digital for Youth through articles on our website, in lectures, annual reports, etc. we also hope to encourage other companies to reuse their IT equipment.
Promoting sustainability among registrars
Through information campaigns we continue to promote sustainability among our registrars and share specific tips and tricks on our website. Through testimonies, webinars, podcasts on .be-sustainable we inspire registrars. We provide sustainability information and ask them how they are working on improving their sustainability by requesting their climate footprint, for example.
